Compassion. Curiosity. Change.
You’re here because you know something is off. You aren’t your usual self and that’s plain painful. You are smart enough to know your own ways of coping aren’t quite doing the trick and those around you can’t seem to offer the right advice to make things better.
My hope is that even within the first few sessions, you’ll be able to begin to breathe again. We will consider your current story together and help make sense of it. I want to help decrease the overwhelm, the unknown and help you begin to feel known, understood and have a path forward for change.
“The courage to be vulnerable is not about winning or losing, it's about the courage to show up when you can't predict or control the outcome.” -Brene Brown
What's available to you...
-
Understanding
You wish you could understand what's going on. It makes sense that you want to be understood. You don't have to be alone with your thoughts and feelings. We will work together to make sure you are feeling understood. I like to ask my clients, "Am I getting it right?" You are the expert of your experience, and I want to make sure that I'm understanding your experience.
-
Confident Coping
You want understanding, but you also want to be confident in how to handle the things that are keeping you in pain. After all, you are coming to therapy because you want something to change. Therapy can provide the insight and tools to help you handle what life throws at you. I'll provide you with coping skills to try out, but also help model them for you.
-
Self Awareness
You may be surprised by how much you may learn about yourself. Therapy isn't just about naming what's going on, but learning who you are. Did you know that being aware of your strengths may help you understand and change your weaknesses? Your strengths may also help us to figure out what coping strategies would leverage those strengths so that change is quicker!

“People are just as wonderful as sunsets if I can let them be… When I look at a sunset, I don’t find myself saying, “Soften the orange a bit on the right hand corner”… I don’t try to control a sunset. I watch with awe as it unfolds.”

Meeting you right where you are.
Virtual therapy can offer convenience. It eliminates your commute so that your sessions can fit seamlessly into your schedule. Connecting with a therapist online may increase your ability to connect with a counselor who specializes in the things you want to talk about most. In the case of OCD treatment, virtual sessions can offer unique opportunities to practice Exposure Response Prevention at home.
